I recieved my laptop back yesterday, and immediately set about trying to update Spri in time for Karmic's release tomorrow.
You'll imagine my surprise when after 45 minutes the problem that I originally sent it away for repair for started flaring up again.
It has been sent away again. I'm unfortunately powerless to speed the process up - The Tech Guys (The UK based repair firm that has the warranty repair contract with Dixons) are seemingly a bunch of useless idiots - I don't even want to detail the problem I've had with the simple process of sending the laptop away by courier.
Unfortunately this means that Spri will be quite some way behind Ubuntu's release cycle. This is obviously a massive shame, but will means some maturity when released. As far as I can tell, there are no problems with any of the tools used to make the disk, it'll just be a case of repacking the programs (I know that SLiM is no longer included in Karmic's repositories for example, so it will need repackaging) so once this is done, the upgrade will be availabe
People are welcome to attempt an upgrade via update manager, however this may break some or all functionality, and is not recommended. I would appreciate any and all feedback in the forum.
Thanks, and once again apologies for the delay.
